Vascular Medicine

Riverside Radiology Associates Vascular Medicine practice provides a myriad of options for treatment and management of vascular disease. Vascular medicine specialists are internal medicine trained physicians with additional fellowship training in the area of vascular diseases. Over the past 50 years vascular medicine has evolved into an organized group of physicians who emphasize the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disorders as the primary focus of clinical practice.

Vascular medicine training integrates basic science and internal medicine knowledge with specific vascular related clinical medicine and vascular diagnostics. Vascular medicine specialists are trained in the medical management of the vascular surgery and vascular intervention patient and have a broad scope of knowledge about the various surgical and endovascular procedures offered to their patients.

The practice of vascular medicine calls upon an expertise in diagnostic imaging with ultrasound and with physiologic testing to assist in the accurate assessment of vascular disorders through the noninvasive vascular laboratory. Vascular medicine specialists typically practice with vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists and cardiologists.
